Fine Art Floral - Cigar Box

Another gift, and this one is going to be really hard to give away. I’ve made these beautiful boxes from cigar boxes over the years (click here to see more), and just love how this one turned out. Of course, the 3D flowers are my favorite aspect of making the boxes. When I saw the stunning Fine Art Floral Suite coming in the Mini Catalog (January - June 2021), I knew that would be my first project with the gorgeous papers. Each side on these papers come from hand painted canvases, photographed and printed for stunning effects!

This suite includes the Art Gallery Bundle (Art Gallery stamps and Floral Gallery dies), stunning Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate, Gilded Leafing Embellishment (really beautiful), Fine Art 3/8” Ribbon, Painted Texture Embossing Folder, Heat & Stick Powder (yes, it is back), and Fine Art Floral DSP.

This project used only two-12”x12” sheets of the Fine Art Floral DSP, and a small portion of the Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate. The flowers were made with retired Petal Builder Punch utilizing the left over DSP after the box was covered. The leaves were made with Nature’s Roots dies, with Old Olive and Mossy Meadow cardstock. The ribbon used was the 1/4” Crinkled Binding Ribbon (colored with the lightest Flirty Flamingo blend), the Gold cord from Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack and Fine Art Ribbon.

This gorgeous paper has so many vibrant and lovely colors (Bumblebee, Flirty Flamingo, Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy, Old Olive, Petal Pink, Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Terra Cotta Tile, Whisper White).

I used the Art Gallery Bundle for the verse, using the verse in the dies (from 4 layers of the verse in White CS), and the remaining verse was embossed with White Embossing Powder & Versamark on Old Olive CS. Inside the box and on the bottom, I used the Cinnamon Cider from the Color Velveteen Paper Pack. Feet are little turned wooden knobs colored with the light Old Olive Blend. The Gilded Gems and Antiqued Corners are the final touch.

I used a cigar box measuring approx. 8-1/2” x 6-1/4”x 2-1/2”. Before putting the DSP on the box, I used white craft paint to touch up the portions of the box that would not be covered with DSP. I then put the velveteen CS on the inside. I used Multipurpose Glue to adhere all the paper to the box, and Fine-Tip Glue Pen for the little corners popping up. I used the Stampin’ Seal+ to adhere the acetate.
