Magic is in the air

This last week at my Stamping Cuties Team meeting, my friend Lori Sue was one of the ladies to provide the project and I learned a new process to make the stunning background paper you see behind these sweet snowflakes…

This stunning card was made with the snowflake framed dies from the Giving Gift dies on the Shimmery White CS. But it is the gorgeous background that this blog is about.

Use a flat pan (8”x8”) and line it with foil, so the foil wraps up the sides. Add drops of Coastal Cabana ink, Bermuda Bay ink, and Pacific Point ink over the bottom in different areas. Use a Stampin’ Spritzer with water, and spray the ink until it starts to come together, but not super wet. Press a 3-3/4”x5” piece of Shimmery White Cardstock into the ink until you see the ink seeps out of all four sides.

Lift it up and set aside on paper towels, then immediately, use a salt grinder and cover the the paper in salt. Set aside to dry. The salt absorbs the ink while leaving behind a pretty start shaped lighter ink area behind, giving the look of a starry frosty night sky! Simply stunning!! Thank you Lori!!

The card base is an 8-1/2”x5-1/2” piece of Basic White Thick CS, folder over in 1/2. Take another piece of 3-1/2”x4-3/4” piece of Basic White Thick CS, and set your snowflake framed die centered on the sheet, 1/4” from top, left, and the right. After die-cutting, flip the frame and place just below the first cut, lining up the top of the die to the inside edge of the prior cut. Flip the die again to the original position just below the 2nd cut.

Stamp the sentiment, “Magic is in the Air” from the Christmas to Remember Stamp Set in Pacific Point ink, then cut with the smallest Seasonal Label dies.

The Shimmery White background sheet should be dry now. Use the piece of paper towel to brush off the salt. Glue down the sheet to the card base. The snowflake frames can be added to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals, by cutting the edges of the dimensional sheet into small strips. Add the sentiment with additional Stampin’ Dimensionals so it looks to hover above the snowflakes. Add Basic Rhinestones to a few of the snowflakes for the final touch.
