Hello Hollyhocks Kit and Scrapbook Layout

Hello Beautiful

For my last week Fri-Yay Kit-Together Facebook Live, I demonstrated another fabulous kit called "Hello Hollyhocks". I love hollyhock flowers and can’t wait until my yard has a spot for flowers that love the sun! The kit elements makes for a stunning scrapbook layout as well!

My challenge to you is to search Pinterest and find a layout that inspires you and a kit you love, and just try it!! I cannot even begin to describe how much joy scrapbooking has given me!!

My how-to video is below…

The “Hello Hollyhock” Kit is a beautiful kit with 9 lovely cards and pre-printed greetings for only $14.00! The colors of the kit are Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Old Olive, Petal Pink, and Pretty Peacock. The florals are so lovely. Remember, if you do not like the pre-printed greetings, use the other side of the labels to make your own! For my scrapbook layout, I am using 1 each of the cards and elements, and two of the envelopes to make a gorgeous scrapbook layout, and it is so easy!!

This picture is 15+ years old of my cousins and I at the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach, CA, and makes me so very happy to get it into a scrapbook layout!! I started with a 12”x12” piece of the Country Lace DSP for my scrapbook base. I took the Old Olive card base and cut it lengthwise at 2-3/4”x11” and laid if vertically on the left side of the scrapbook page. I took the Petal Pink 8-1/2”x 5” speckled card base and placed it horizontally across, allowing the two cards to overlap. I then placed the hollyhock embellished frame in the upper left corner of the cards.

My photo is 4”x6” and has a 4-1/4x6-1/4” piece of Calypso Coral CS to frame it, then adhered to the left side of the speckled card so the top, left and bottom are the same distance from the edge of the card.

The final card has hollyhocks with a diagonal element in Petal Pink. I cut it in pieces by hand to fussy cut around the flowers and layer them going up the left side of the page, creating a banner from the bottom portion.

The back of the card and remaining cards & envelopes were cut into 1/2” to 1” small strips that could be made into banners with the retired Banners Pick A Punch. I then tucked them above, below and to the right of the photos in an eye pleasing way, mixing the colors and patterns and flipping the pieces over when I needed the white as well.

For the sentiments of this layout, I used a mix of the sentiments in the kit and the Say Anything Ephemera Pack. The Hello is from the kit, and the Beautiful is from the ephemera but was in Bubble Bath and did not match the kit, so I used the Petal Pink Blend and colored it to fit in with the layout.

I used a couple of other sentiments from the ephemera pack as well, and combined them as needed. My final touch was using the sparkly embellishments from the kit. I am so thrilled with this layout and have a new favorite page.
