Notes From The Heart December 2024 Paper Pumpkin Card Box

Simply Gorgeous!!

For my Marvelous Monday Facebook Live this week, I shared how I made a super EASY yet gorgeous card boxed set using what remained of my Notes From The Heart Paper Pumpkin Kit after I made a two page scrapbook spread for my part of the December 2024 Notes From The Heart Exclusive Paper Pumpkin Creatives PDF Tutorial.

After the two-page scrapbooking spread, I had 7-card bases and 6-floral/foliage pieces, 6-vellum foliage pieces and 8 envelopes, 15 sentiment labels with some pieces. Surprisingly, after making two boxes, I still made 6 cards for one of the box sets. Yay!!

One of my favorite things Paper Pumpkin has created in 2024 is the quarterly add-on dies that coordinate with the Paper Pumpkin kits! The Merry Tags and More Dies (#165639) have added so much to this month’s kit as well as the last two kits.

For these beautiful boxes (each will hold 6 cards & envelopes), I used 1/2 of a scalloped card base and one floral, vellum, sentiment label and five of the gold sparkly embellishments. The box size is 6-1/4”wide x 5”high x 1”deep.

The box is made from one 8-1/2”x11” piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock. Watch my video for the full tutorial. Along the 11” side, score at 5” and at 6”, then rotate 90 degrees so the 8-1/2” side is at the top of your score board and score at 1” and at 7-1/2”. Rotate back so the 11” side is at the top then score at 2-1/2” from both ends on top and bottom so you know where to cut out per the diagram above.

Once your box is scored, you can snip away the areas cross-hatched. Use what you have to scallop the two top edges as desired. I used the upcoming Hugs For Love punch to create the scalloped edge. My video gave a couple of options using punches. Then fold at score lines and glue together so the top of the box is open. Punch holes at the scalloped top to thread approximately 16” of ribbon. I used the upcoming White 1/2” Woven Ribbon. I love how light weight it is and how easy it is to tie a bow.

The 1/2 card base was first embossed with the Fern 3D Embossing Folder, then glued to the box front. I then layered the vellum foliage from the kit to the white base and then added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the kit fern and added to the box front. I die cut out two ferns in Gold Foil Sheets and Mossy Meadow cardstock using the Merry Tags and More Dies, then popped them up using dimensionals, tucking them under the larger fern and where the sentiment will go.

I used one of the sentiment labels and stamped it in Blackberry Bliss ink. On the back of the label, I put a strip of Tear & Tape, then used the same ribbon to create a cute little ruffle. My final touch was adding the gold sparkle embellishments from the kit.

Beautiful Card Set

I Put together the 6 cards from the remaining kit. As I no longer had 6 flowers/foliage, I cut one of the berries and one of the flowers apart along with one of the vellum foliage into two to create a full 6 cards. Some are folded into Z-fun-folds, others are not. I had some extra pieces of an envelope for one of the card fronts and used a small piece of Blackberry Bliss cardstock for another, but tried to keep it really simple. For the cards that had smaller pieces of vellum and flowers, I used die cut ferns (same as above) and gold cord to fill them in for really lovely cards. Each card is unique. Get creative… this kit does all the heavy lifting!
