Poinsettia Place Suite
Wow, the new Stampin’ Up! Poinsettia Place Suite makes for gorgeous cards!! This wonderful set is coming in the new August-December 2020 Fall Mini Catalog on August 4th. Whether you want to make a simple card with no stamping or a lovely 3D flower, this set will be your go-to for Christmas cards! See the intro to the suite in the below video.
Hooray for 3D flowers!! This wonderful set of Christmas cards (below) was made with the same few elements on all three cards. I decided to pair the new Poinsettia Place Suite’s gorgeous Poinsettia Place designer series paper, Plush Poinsettia specialty paper, Real Red ribbon, and Beaded Pearls with the Champagne Foil, Soft Sea Foam Velveteen and Shimmery White cardstocks. I have wanted to use the Color Velveteen Paper Pack since I saw it used as it adds such a plush look to your cards and paper art and I love the Soft Foam and Highland Heather so much! I used Soft Suede ink, champagne rhinestones and Basic Pearls embellishments. Also used Dainty Diamonds and Subtle 3D embossing folders, along with Stitched Rectangle and Tasteful Label dies. The “Merry” and “Christmas” was from the Word Wishes dies and using Adhesive Sheets in the Embossing Machine. The adhesive sheets make embossed words so much easier to adhere to your cards.
I hope you enjoy making these lovely cards as much as I did!
One of the fantastic things Stampin’ Up! has started doing is coordinating their dies with their designer series papers. As a result, you can die cut DSP images with the embossing machine instead of having to fussy cut them out. Below are two examples of the Poinsettia Place DSP and the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper with the images die cut with the Poinsettia Dies to make cards (pine cones and needles fussy cut). I added the Flirty Flamingo blend and Old Olive blend for the petals and leaves, and then added Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to the edges of the vellum and to the petals of the DSP flowers. To get the extra color on flowers and leaves on the Flirty Flamingo card, I added the darker blend pen color to the back of the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper, and I added a piece of Whisper White cardstock to make sure the color was consistent over the layers of the blossom. The Flirty Flamingo card base utilized the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder. Both cards used layers of Old Olive cardstock. The Happy Holidays card used the Tasteful Label dies for the message and the stitched piece of wood from the DSP, and the Soft Suede ink for the verse. For the blossom centers, I used the Beaded Pearls from the suite. Everything else was using the Poinsettia Place Suite elements, like the Real Red ribbon. Please let me know if I can send you the new catalog!
Below are a couple of simple cards I wanted to try with the Poinsettia Petals Bundle from the upcoming mini. I love how the Shimmery White cardstock, the new Beaded Pearls and the Wink of Stella Glitter pen come together for gorgeous results. For the poinsettia card, I used the smallest two poinsettia dies with the new Red Velvet Paper for the poinsettia, and Garden Green cardstock for the leaves. The Smokey Slate light blend pen works great to give the petals and leaves depth. For the holly card, I did the same as the poinsettia petals, but used the Melon Mambo light blend pen to color Beaded Pearl berries and use the Melon Mambo ink along with the Water Painter to give the card a subtle colored background. I also used the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder on the Shimmery White cardstock for the card base, and the new Banners Pick A Punch for the verse.
