Seasonal Greetings in Style: Embossing Techniques with Two-Tone Cardstock

EASY CHRISTMAS CARDS

The holidays are the perfect time to unleash your creativity, and this year, I’ve been having so much fun using Stampin’ Up!’s new Two-Tone 12x12 Cardstock alongside the Forever Plaid 3d and Painted Trees 3D Embossing Folders. These tools help you create elegant, textured cards that truly capture the magic of the season.

Stampin’ Up!’s new Two-Tone 12x12 Cardstock is a versatile product designed for both card-making and scrapbooking. Each sheet features a white core, which makes it ideal for techniques like embossing, sanding, and tearing. The cardstock comes in several color combinations, such as Pool Party, Real Red, Garden Green, and Basic Black, making it perfect for creating coordinated projects across seasons. The dual-tone design enhances the depth and creativity of your designs, especially when used with embossing folders and die-cuts.

Season’s Greetings

Using the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder, I paired Garden Green Two-Toned 12x12 cardstock with Festive 12X 12 Glimmer Paper accents and die-cut foliage from the Seasons of Green & Gold Suite Collection to create a festive “Season’s Greetings” card. The textured plaid background adds a cozy, timeless feel. To achieve the textured plaid pattern, I sanded the Two-Toned cardstock after embossing it. I layered the top 4”x5-1/4” piece with a 4-1/8”x5-3/8” classic Garden Green Cardstock over an A2 Card in Basic White Thick cardstock. So EASY!!

Merry Christmas

This festive card uses the same embossing folder but with Real Red Two-Toned cardstock for a bold, vibrant look. I used the opposite side of the embossing folder for a different plaid pattern. A “Merry Christmas” sentiment and foliage using the Seasons of Green & Gold Suite Collection and Festive 12X 12 Glimmer Paper die cut tag complete this cheerful design. Simple yet elegant EASY card!

Painted Trees greetings

I kept it simple yet elegant with Pool Party Two-Tone Cardstock embossed with the Painted Trees 3D Folder and sanded. A touch of white shimmer cardstock using from the Berry Burst, Old Olive & White 12x12 Glimmer Specialty Paper using Frosted Forest Dies for the trees and base adds a snowy effect for a serene winter scene. The sweet sentiment was stamped directly on the Two-Toned Cardstock in Pool Party Ink. I layered the Pool Party Two-Toned again on the classic Pool Party cardstock for that monochromatic feel.

Techniques and Tips

Embossing on Two-Tone Cardstock: The white core of this cardstock makes embossed designs pop beautifully. Lightly sand the raised areas for a subtle distressed effect.

Tone-on-Tone Layers: Keep the color palette cohesive by using matching ink or glitter elements to complement the cardstock tones.

Mix and Match: The versatility of the plaid and tree patterns means you can mix these designs to create rustic or elegant themes.
