To A Wild Rose (RETIRED)

I want to call this To A Wild Rose card a mixed media effort. I started by stamping Sahara Sand for the outlines of the rose on the new Stampin’ Up! Fluid 100 Watercolor paper, and intended the rose to be Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo, using the water painters and ink pads and refills, however, I was not enjoying the results so added Poppy Parade for deeper tones… still not happy I tried Smokey Slate blends for the shadows inside and below the rose (BIG NO), then added Poppy Parade Stampin Write markers to get into the darkest spots!

For the leaves, I used the Mossy Meadow stamp pad for the outline, then used more ink and the water painters for the dark tones and blending the lighter tones. The shading below was done with better results with the Smokey Slate stamp pad ink and the water painters as well.

Now it’s a Christmas Rose...oh well! I officially have my first Christmas card! Happy accident?? Call it Christmas in July! This technique is for the seasoned stamper that likes to dabble in watercolor, and if you are experienced, you may find an easier path with a more stunning result (please post below when you do). I am by no means an experienced watercolor artist, but I hope you give it a try. Materials needed are listed below. Oh, and the verse is from the new Fall 2020 Mini Catalog, Poinsettia Place Suite! Check back for the link after August 4, 2020.
