What is World Cardmaking Day?

A day to make cards for loved ones & friends of course (hint…and send them)!!

I was not certain what I wanted to do for World Cardmaking Day, as I had never heard of it before 2020 (there are a LOT of holidays I have never heard of until social media took over our news… lol). Somehow I saw a post about Operation Gratitude, a non-profit that makes up care packages for our Troops, Veterans, First Responders and others. I found their Facebook group, Operation Gratitude In Action and saw they needed hand-made cards for the troop care packages for Christmas… and I thought to myself, “I can do that”. I happen to have 20 sheets of this particular design of 6”x6” Flower For Every Season DSP I knew I could never use up, and decided I needed to explore those one-sheet-wonder patterns I have seen so much of on Pinterest (All layouts below were CASE’d)!

What is a “One sheet wonder” you ask? Why… a miracle in the card making world!! Read more about it below!

One Sheet Wonder #1

The first 6”x6” one-sheet-wonder I cut out was the one to the right. Go to THIS LINK for the PDF with the measurements. This pattern of cuts gave me lots of options on card designs. This layout can make at least 4 cards. I had 6 sheets of this cut, so made 24 cards with this one-sheet-wonder.

For this set of cards, I used my Poinsettia Petals Bundle, as the poinsettia is a close match. I used Poppy Parade, Just Jade & Flirty Flamingo Ink and Flirty Flamingo Blends on Whisper White cardstock and layered the DSP with Just Jade, Pool Party, Poppy Parade, and Flirty Flamingo cardstock. The cards made are below…

One Sheet Wonder #2

The second 6”x6” one-sheet-wonder I cut out was the one to the left. Go to THIS LINK for the PDF with the measurements. This pattern of cuts again gave me lots of options on card designs. This layout can make at least 4 cards. I had 6 sheets of this cut, so made 24 cards with this one-sheet-wonder as well. These first two were all finished on October 3!! 48 cards!! Whew!!!

For this layout, I used the cute Gift Wrap Bundle for the adorable bows. I also used Just Jade ink on the Banners Pick A Punch for the verse label. I layered the DSP on Flirty Flamingo, Just Jade over Pool Party and Whisper White cardstock. I used a number of different embossing folders for added interest, such as Dainty Diamonds, Subtle 3D, and Meadow Moments. More pics on the layouts and resulting cards below…

One Sheet Wonder #3

This third 6”x6” one-sheet-wonder I cut out was the one to the right. Go to THIS LINK for the PDF with the measurements. This pattern of cuts once again gave me lots of options on card designs. This layout can make at least 6 different cards. I had 8 sheets of this cut, so made 48 cards with this one-sheet-wonder layout. That makes for a grand total of 96 cards!! WOW!!

For this layout, I used Just Jade ink for the verses from a number of current and retired stamp sets for the sweet sentiments. I layered the DSP on Poppy Parade over Just Jade and Whisper White cardstock. On all the cards for this post, I used the Sequins For Everything, as the cards for the troops cannot have pearls or rhinestones. I also used some current & retired ribbon.

More pics on the layouts and resulting cards below…

I want to apologize for the lack of quality for the photos. By the time I realized how bad they looked, the cards had already been packaged for shipping.
