FREE - Sale-a-bration Daffodil Afternoon 12”x12” DSP

The pretty FREE (with $50 purchase) Sale-a-bration Daffodil Afternoon 12”x12” Designer Series Paper (DSP), was a big surprise to me. When first perusing the J-F SAB Catalog, I was thinking a big NO, but once I started creating cards with it, I fell in love with how easy it is to make “sentiment only” cards.

The awesome extra for this pretty paper is that is coordinates with the Daffodil Daydream bundle from the Jan-Jun 2022 Mini Catalog! So cool! “Sentiment only” cards are a simple way to make lots of the same card for gifts, craft shows or all those thank you’s after Christmas, as all you have to do is cut out the cardstock, stamp your greeting, assemble and you are done. Granted, I like layers, ribbon and a little bling… so they get a little more labor intensive, but the results are divine and yet I am able to produce a bunch in no time at all!!

Happy Birthday

The colors in this pretty paper include Flirty Flamingo. While the cardstock color is a little bold to me, I love to layer with it and let it be a pretty accent color. Another coordinating color is Very Vanilla, always a favorite that easily gets forgotten until fall or Christmas, so I was super happy to pull it out.

I used the A2 card base size (8-1/2”x5-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”) in Very Vanilla Thick CS, with a piece of Flirty Flamingo CS (5-3/8”x4-1/8”). Put both aside.

I like to cut my 12”x12” DSP typically into 4”x4” squares for cards like the above, or 4”x6” for cards like the next one below.

The top layer with the Daffodil Afternoon DSP, is a 4”x4” piece layered on a coordinating 2”x4” piece. The 4”x4” DSP layer goes over last. Both are glued to the Flirty Flamingo CS, then the Flirty Flamingo 1/4” Gold Metallic Ribbon (approx. 16”) is wrapped around the card layers at the bottom of the 4”x4” DSP layer to hide the joinery, then popped up on the card base with Stampin Dimensionals.

My sentiment is from the FREE (with $100 purchase) Sale-a-bration Special Moments photopolymer stamp set. I used Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a scrap of Very Vanilla CS, then die cut it out with a Tasteful Label die. My last touch was adding a few Classic Matt Dots in Very Vanilla. So pretty!!

Thanks

This lovely simple card is the ultimate easy “sentiment only” card, great for mass production when needed. Granted, I did fussy cut some big white daffodils for a little extra sweetness.

Again I started with the Very Vanilla Thick CS base (8-1/2”x5-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”), with a layer of Petal Pink CS (5-3/8”x4-1/8”), then set aside. This wonderful Daffodil Afternoon DSP is perfect for cutting into 6 each 6”x4”, so I can use the top few inches without print for my sentiment. When I cut it down to 4”x5-1/4” to layer over my Petal Pink CS layer, I take the remaining 3/4”x4” strip and put it on the inside of my card for that little extra.

Before assembling, I stamped my sentiment from the FREE (with $100 purchase) Sale-a-bration Special Moments in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then glued by DSP to the Petal Pink CS layer. I then tied the new 1/8” Cotton Ribbon Combo Pack in Petal Pink around the two layers and tied a bow. I popped this up on the card base with Stampin Dimensionals.

For this card, I cut out the big daffodils with the pink tips from the DSP, then popped it up over the ribbon. I then added Genial Gems in Pale Papaya as my final touch.

There was something so satisfying to make two great cards so easily with a minimal amount of stamping or fuss! A great way to start the new year!
