New Horizons Suite Collection

Oh so GORGEOUS!! I am so in LOVE with New Horizons Suite Collection!!

This stunning collection of New Horizons 6”x6” Designer Series Paper lends itself to amazingly easy yet beautiful cards.

I am prepping my samples for my next class, coming up in February and just cannot believe how easy it is to use this suite collection. Cards just spilled out, one right after another!! And easy guy cards… oh my! Thank you Stampin’ Up! artists!! This stunning collection includes the On The Horizon Bundle (On the Horizon cling stamp set & Horizon Dies), 1/8” Cotton Ribbon in Misty Moonlight & Petal Pink, Pebbles Enamel Shapes, and the New Horizons 6”x6” DSP.

Relax & Enjoy…

This beautiful card will make a great birthday greeting to a guy or gal. So peaceful!! I decided I want to use the new Slimline Envelopes (3-7/8”x8-7/8”) sized cards (8-1/2”x7”, scored at 3-1/2”) in Smoky Slate CS. I used 2 each scrap pieces of 2”x1/2” In Good Taste DSP in the rough barn board print for each end of the card, centered on each end. I then used a 6-1/8”x3-1/2” piece of Basic Black CS, centered on the card.

I used one of the DSP that showed a grassy bottom with what looks like a glassy lake for my image. I cut a little off the top and bottom to achieve the look I wanted. Before gluing the DSP to the black CS, I used Evening Evergreen ink to add the birds and trees. The trees are stamped, then stamped again without re-inking to get the layered look. After getting the distant tree look, I used my Evening Evergreen Blend to darken the horizon line so it looked more uniform.

In Mossy Meadow ink, I stamped some grass in the foreground, for behind both pieces of fence. I die cut out 4 fences using the In Good Taste barn board DSP. I cut a little off two of them, and glued them over the stamped grass so they looked like longer lengths of picket fence.

The backside of this piece of DSP has a Mossy Meadow watercolor, so used the scraps I cut off to make the grassy pieces, popped up on Black Stampin’ Dimensionals in front of the fences. To achieve the reverse, I flipped the DSP over, and cut it from the back side of what I wanted for the opposite side. The sentiment is from a piece of the sky portion of the DSP (1”x2-3/4”), stamped in Evening Evergreen Ink, and flagged with the Banner Pick a Punch. After placing the Pebble Enamel Shapes down, I used the Smoky Slate Blend to darken the bottom side of the pebble, and shadow below them, the grass and the fence. I just love this card and hope you do as well!

Thanks for Everything

This lovely little card is one of the Note Cards & Envelops in Basic White. The New Horizons DSP cuts into easy 3”x3” pieces and makes 4 cards.

I stamped my birds in Misty Moonlight ink. This card was a happy accident, as I messed up on my trees below the lake on this piece, so added a foreground of rolling hills using the dies from the fabulous Horizon Dies! I used scraps from my Smokey Slate CS, Basic Gray CS, Misty Moonlight CS, and Night of Navy CS for my hills and trees. I added them in a staggered fashion in 3” lengths.

The DSP and rolling hill pieces were added to 3-1/8”x3-1/8” piece of Misty Moonlight DSP. I glued the DSP and both gray pieces down, then popped up the blue pieces with Stampin Dimensionals (same level), then popped up the trees above the hills.

For the embossed mountains, I used my handy Silicone Matt instead of one of my clear plates over two pieces of thick CS as a shim, then placed my Note Card, the mountain die, then my top clear plate (#2), and rolled it through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. You will have to experiment on scraps, as some dies need one more piece of CS to emboss, while this one only needed two. My verse is stamped on the card in Misty Moonlight as well. So pretty yet simple.

These three note cards are a great example of a Stepped-up card. The first one is just the Note Card, a 3”x3” DSP, 3-1/8”x3-1/8” CS, a sentiment and embellishments. The second card has birds stamped on the note card along with the sentiment, and the 3-1/8”x3-1/8” piece popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, while the third card is the same as detailed above. I LOVE this about Stampin’ Up!’s gorgeous DSP, as it takes very little for a beautiful card, yet you can add more as you want for that wow effect!
